Anyone can remove popcorn from the ceiling in a house. However, most people would rather pay someone else to do it. Why? It’s simple, it’s messy, no matter how much you prepare. Clean up is a drag, right? But you have to admit it is worth it once it’s all done and ready to be painted.

I started removing popcorn ceiling about thirteen years ago when someone asked us to remove the popcorn ceiling and sand it down. They indicated they would paint it themselves. It took one full day to prepare and prep the rooms thoroughly. I have to admit I may have gone over-board with the prepping because we use water and we didn’t want to destroy their floors or anything else.

Pro tip: plan and prep and then make sure to use proper tape that does not allow water to seap through. Use frog tape if you do not want to damage the paint.
